SHAX Furniture Delivery Charges From 1st November 2026
At SHAX, we work hard to keep our furniture delivery service affordable for the individuals and families who rely on us. Our goal has always been to provide quality furniture at low cost while helping people create safe, comfortable homes.
However, like many organisations across the UK, we have experienced significant increases in operating costs over recent years, particularly in relation to diesel fuel prices and vehicle running expenses.
The cost of fuel plays a major role in our delivery service. Our vehicles travel throughout Dumfries and Galloway each week, collecting donated furniture and delivering essential household items to those who need them most. Rising diesel prices, along with increased vehicle maintenance and operational costs, have placed additional pressure on the service.
We have worked hard to absorb these increases for as long as possible. In fact, the last adjustment to our delivery charges was made in October 2022. Since then, SHAX has continued to maintain the same pricing despite the significant rise in costs affecting charities, businesses and households alike.
To ensure that we can continue providing a reliable and sustainable delivery service, we have taken the difficult decision to introduce a modest increase in our delivery charges.
These changes will help us:
- Continue delivering furniture across the region.
- Maintain our collection and recycling services.
- Cover rising fuel and vehicle costs.
- Ensure the long-term sustainability of our charity operations.
- Continue supporting vulnerable individuals and families throughout our communities.
We understand that any price increase can be challenging, especially during a time when many households are managing increased living costs. For this reason, we have kept the increase as low as possible while ensuring the service remains viable.
Every pound received through our delivery service is reinvested back into SHAX and helps us continue our work supporting people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity and financial hardship across Dumfries and Galloway.

The updated delivery charges will be in effect from 1st November 2026.
